The Mariners have their first nine-inning game in about three hours, with a charity game against the Padres, the team they play about one third of their spring training games against, before meeting again in interleague play.
Starting at shortstop and batting ninth: Willie Bloomquist!
It’s now been over four months since Yuniesky Betancourt started a game, any game, for the Mariners. This must change.

Also of note: the charity game benefits the Peoria Diamond Club, which helps out the kids. The first pitch will be thrown by none other than “America’s Toughest Sherriff,” Joe Arpaio. Wikipedia says Harper’s said “his nose is purple, his neck is red, and he has the charm of Archie Bunker.”
All in the name of charity.
