Yuniesky Betancourt hit a home run in the first inning of yesterday’s spring training game against the not-especially-hated Cubs. Ryan Divish of the News-Tribune turned this event into a great article on Yuni needing to be more patient, especially if he wants to replace Jose Vidro in the second spot in the lineup. Divish lays out all the stats on Yuni (he never strikes out, but also never walks), and even gets a couple quotes from Yuni.
Yuni on patience: “More than anything, I think we all took very few walks (last year), so we need more, and so do I”
Way to take responsibility for your actions there, Yuni. You’d be a terrible recovering alcoholic.
Yuni on hitting second: “The second batter has to do more hit and run and hit the ball to right field and that’s it… That’s what we’re doing and you have to be professional and be ready.”
